ICFF: the aftermath

It's been a week since the designboom mart at ICFF and I think I've finally begun to recover. And now that evidence of the trip is popping up on the interweb, I can be convinced that it did, in fact, happen...

designboom.com

The designboom mart was pretty much packed during the four days of ICFF - retailers, press, designers, and the occasional design celebrity (denise schmidt! tom dixon!) streamed by in what turned out to be the informal "flea market" section of ICFF. We kept hearing that the mart was one of the coolest parts of ICFF, because it was approachable and casual and things were actually for sale. I wouldn't know since I barely got to venture away from my booth, but it did seem like the hopping place to me...

(I'd be the blonde along the left wall)

I got to meet some writers from my favorite design blogs, including Sally Kuchar from sallytv and contributor to one of my favorite blogs, moco loco. It was beyond hectic when Sally filmed this clip, and she mentioned that she might return to re-film it... but I guess she decided to go with the first cut. Must remember to work on my stage presence:

Maybe the biggest highlight was meeting Heather Snodgrass, writer for joshspear.com, and getting to put a friendly face to talk shop friday and her other posts. Plus her moo cards are fabulous (second fast friend I've made over moo cards). She posted about my booth here.

I missed meeting Grace from design*sponge but luckily Rebecca from Moontree Letterpress represented me well, and Grace added me to her post of ICFF coverage.

I also finally got to meet Jaime, who writes a great design blog here in Denver: designklub.blogspot.com. She included the snap cups in her designboom coverage here.

And, to cap it all off, a comprehensive report on the designboom mart can be found on their website, complete with photo albums of the 50 other designers who were there.

Thanks very much to Anita and Andy who represented designboom at the mart, and also to designboom for extending the invitation to participate!
see you in Tokyo in October?
